Humble beginnings and a solid foundation has led to Living Stones’ successful ministry for over 40 years.
In 1974 Pastor Jandl accepted the position of pastor in a small denominational church. It was there that a real, God-given revival began that profoundly affected area youth. Many were delivered from drugs, alcohol and destructive lifestyles. In January of 1975, Living Stones Church was founded. The congregation was made up of a group of young people with plenty of life and energy and a strong desire to lead people to Jesus.
In the beginning, LSC called several unconventional places its home. Then in 1976, the church purchased the former First Christian Church located at Sidnor and Taylor Streets in Alvin. With an official home came an air of more stability, and a different kind of growth was added. Adults and families began to mix with the fired-up youth, and once again the church was packed to the walls with people from Alvin and the surrounding communities. After three years in downtown Alvin, LSC purchased five acres of land on the northeast side of town, and construction began on a 500-seat building. The morning the new facility opened, it was full.
Plans for expansion began, which were quickly completed. Today that building houses a portion of Living Stones Christian School. Eventually, the dome was built, which is the church’s present home.
LSC Campus Ministries
In 1980, Living Stones Christian School was founded and has maintained a standard of excellence through the years. In addition, Precious Stones Preschool and Daycare opened in 1998. Victory Camp began in 1993. Located across from the church, it hosts youth and children’s camps, church and corporate retreats, and events sponsored by local organizations.
